Should we be thinking about renaming this place Samuel Yearly? [20 Jul 2009|07:55pm]

Damn the man, who told him he could get a life instead of swanning around posing for pictures all the time?

Three from Enron:

And a bit of YouTube:

Random Quest...where can I find it? [20 Oct 2008|08:28pm]

It's a stupid request, I know. But I cannot find a copy of this program anywhere. I know there's a link to a file in the Sam Stash thingy, but the name/password combo doesn't work for it (given that this was posted back in March, it's probably invalid for some reason). But I would really, really like to see this in its entirety. If anyone knows of another source for it, I would greatly appreciate knowing where to obtain a copy. Thanks. :)

Some news- State side fans rejoice! (UK ones sob) [20 Mar 2008|10:46am]

Lucky lucky lady. Talented, has the job i want, the man i want, is too pretty for own good, list goes on!

How the West fell in love...

Still a bachelor at 41 despite his good looks, is eligible thespian Sam West about to take on the role of a lifetime — as a husband?

His actor parents, Prunella Scales and Timothy West, certainly hope so.

For they have given their approval to Oxford-educated Sam's latest girlfriend, the award-winning playwright Laura Wade, who accompanied him to see Noel Coward's Brief Encounter at the Cinema Haymarket this week.

"We've been going out for the past 18 months and we moved in together three months ago," says Sam, whose relationship with Sheffield-born Laura began when he was artistic director of the city's Crucible Theatre.

His mother, best remembered as bossy Sybil in Fawlty Towers, says: "Laura is lovely and we're hoping it will be permanent."

Sadly, Sam and Laura are to be apart for several weeks as he is off to New York to star in Caryl Churchill's latest play Drunk Enough To Say I Love You.

I am a bad bad fangirl [13 Mar 2008|04:04am]

I've been meaning to update the Sam Stash forever, but I am a big flake.

It is now here, and the username/password is the extremely cryptic and complex sam/west. :)

Contents to date:

High Table Lower Orders, first six episodes, mp3, 38M.

Sam as a smart-assed Health and Safety officer who gets wrapped up in a murder investigation at Cambridge. I yearn for, but do not have, eps 7-12.

Historians of Genius in their Own Words: Macauley, 496M, avi.

Sam narrates Macauley's account of the Monmouth Rebellion, and very fetching he looks doing it, too.

Macauley again, audio-only, mp3, 68M.

For iPod use, etc; unlike most documentary audio tracks, it does very well on its own.

Costumes, avi, 3 files, 15-50M.

Sam as a transgendered Parisian club owner (with an inexplicably Belgian French accent, but hey.) Extremely hard to get; this is a digitisation of a friend's VHS. It's so bad (the video quality; the actual show is pretty damn good) it wouldn't be worth the trouble except for the part where Sam is HOTTER THAN THE SEAT NEXT TO THE FIRE IN HELL IN IT.

Henry V, mp3, 246M.

On, On, On, On, To The Breach and all that. The courtship scene is widely agreed to be brain-meltingly hot, and Tim West is fabulous as the Chorus.

Realms of Gold: The poems and letters of Keats, mp3, 114M.

And he can shut my wild, wild eyes anytime, thankyouverymuch.

Much Ado About Nothing Much Ado About Nothing, mp3, 177M.

"I pray thee now tell me, for which of my bad parts didst thou first fall in love with me?"

The Pity of War: Letters and Poems of Wilfrid Owen, mp3, 58M.

Beautiful and wrenching.

Richard II, in three zip files, mp3, 70-80M each.

Henry V has the hot courtship scene, Richard II has unnaturally hot deposition scene. Also has Damian Lewis, Jamie Bamber, and Ronald Pickup.

Waking the Dead, .avi, 2 files, 206M and 215M

Sam as a serial killer, and a fine, convincing job he does of it, too.

Also Peter Pan, University Challenge, Inspector Alleyn: Death in a White Tie, Corialanus, Family Voices, Random Quest, The Homecoming, Wayland Smith, Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, and E=MC2.

(Yearly reminder)

If you download a lot of tv episodes, audio book, or movies, from here or anywhere, well, obviously I do as well.

But may I direct your attention to Actor's Equity UK, Canada, and US, to Alliance Australia, and to IATSE International?

A donation to Equity or IATSE directly improves the lives and working conditions of the actors we love.

(Yearly reminder ends)

ETA: whups, forgot to post a picture!

oh, all right, so maybe that wasn't Sam. [11 Feb 2008|05:40pm]

[ mood | cheerful ]

The guy who posted it on YouTube said it was! And it sounded like him! Clearly I am just not devoted enough to tell Sam from non-Sam.

In the way of amends, I present you with a bunch of Richard II photos you may not have seen before. I hadn't seen most of these, and my Ricardian obsession knows no bounds. ;)

on this side my hand, and on that side yoursCollapse )

long mayst thou live in Richard's seat to sitCollapse )

I am willing to be all KINDS of postmodern if it gets Richard of Bordeaux on his kneesCollapse )

Submitted for your approval, a 1990 British Steel industrial advert with Sam doing the voiceover.

I think the way he says "British Steel" is hot.

More of Sam on TV [22 Jan 2008|02:04am]

[ mood | cranky ]

Seeing as I've got too much time on my hands, I thought Id do some more screencaps. This time, from Essential Poems to Fall in Love To. Because I can't get the Livejournal Cut to work properly (and I tried three times) you'll have to be happy with just two pictures. Sorry !

Meeting at Night - by Robert Browning

 Proposal - by Tom Vaughan

Also m4sure  and I have found this weblog thats written by an actual friend of Sam. I had a look today - and apparently she saw him over the weekend, and he told her what he's up to. Might be interesting for people in America. (Thats a hint to go and look, you know) !

Happy New year samuelonians! [01 Jan 2008|08:08pm]

[ mood | bouncy ]

On December 27 after finally having cleared up after the Christmas celebrations I sat down in front of TV. BBC1 was broadcasting the BAFTA fellowship awarded to Dame Judi Dench (in 2001 I believe). Suddenly my eye caught somebody familiar sitting behind her.... SAM!!!!

I searched and found a screencap (thanks to djdchronology.com)

Present in bow tie and curls!

Would M consider him as her new 007?
